Non-Traditional Mandala Canvas Painting
1 Day Acrylic Painting Workshop
Saturday 28th May 2022
10am – 4pm
Have you ever wanted to try acrylic painting but didn’t know where to start or perhaps you just enjoy trying new things?
This workshop is designed to help you to let go of fear of judgement, kick perfectionism to the curb and just enjoy the process. We are not looking for perfection, we are embracing flow and playfulness.
I will give you lots of valuable information as we go along that will really help you get the most from the experience should you wish to continue your painting journey. Equally if you just want to enjoy some time out for yourself creating something beautiful that will continue to inspire you then this is the workshop for you.
In this workshop you will learn how to:
Have fun painting flowers or shapes as a meditative exercise (if flowers aren’t your thing, I will show you how to adapt the exercise to suit)
Mix vibrant colours and learn how to find beauty in muddy ones
Paint an abstract background and build up layers
Use different painting tools to create interesting marks and textures
Add embellishments and details
Finish a canvas for presentation
We use high quality acrylic paints and canvases to help you get the most from your painting experience.
Rather than following step-by-step instructions for working on one particular image you will be encouraged to paint intuitively so that you can create something more personal to you. Lots of different floral references will be provided for inspiration. I will demonstrate a variety of different techniques and offer suggestions for how to move your paintings forwards if you feel stuck.
Great for a group day out. All abilities welcome.
No prior painting experience necessary
All materials plus tea/coffee refreshments are included in the price but please bring your own packed lunch as there are no shops or cafes nearby.
ABOUT ME: I am a professional artist who has worked with many types of media including, but not limited to, oil, acrylic, watercolour and pastel. Throughout my career, my painting styles have ranged from traditional realism to abstract expressionism and covered a wealth of subjects. Over the past 15 years I have tutored for many of my local art groups and taught a variety of workshops. The willingness of these art groups to invite me back time and time again is, I hope, testament to my friendly and helpful teaching style.
I no longer offer art group demonstrations as I feel I want to be able to offer people much more than a 2-hour class can allow. Creating my own day long workshops gives participants the time to relax into the process and bring a full painting to fruition.
By providing high quality materials I ensure that participants will experience more ease in creating their paintings rather than struggling with materials that may not perform as well.
I look forward to welcoming you.
